2012: January - May / Split 7" with Colombian Necktie / Shows

haven't updated this blog since December and a lot's been going on with us...

I decided to start a label to release the Colombian Necktie / Seizures split... which was released on May 1st. The red/black swirl variant is sold out but you can still get the indigo ones.

After getting my tax return and selling my record collection, I was able to start Sun Terrace Records. I named it after the street I lived on in my teens where I got into most of my favorite music. I used to put "Sun Terrace Productions" in my skate videos too. The ethos and logo design are inspired by Factory Records' releases. "Catalogue everything". I want this to be an art collective, design studio, sometimes label, and just something different in Orange County. We'll see...

Irish Voodoo Records showed interest in releasing the split, but after speaking with with the guys in both bands, we thought it would be cool to make it a DIY release. Especially since it's the first time both bands have been on vinyl. Irish Voodoo is a cool label, I hope there's no hard feelings. Maybe we can do something with them or Black Voodoo Records eventually.

Here's some flyers of the shows we've played this year so far

Played a restaurant, the whole restaurant...

met our new friends Withdrawal from Canada and
Mike from Escapist Records at this show

Our first time playing last. We played our song 'Cowards'
(my favorite from Antipathy) for the first time,
and we also covered Cursed's 'Head of the Baptist'. Ian brought
a TV with a VHS player, we set it up behind Cody and played
the movie 'Begotten' in the background. It freaked people out.
Our set was nothing like the flyer.

Shout out to dickhead luke for breaking albert's
head in the parking lot. we had to ask Early Graves
like assholes if we could borrow their rig. Thank you
again for being so rad, EG guitarist.

thought we'd have the records in time lol

Blighted and COG also played our first show

Fuck, this was so wild. Our friend Ethan and his family were
unlawfully evicted so he said we could play until the
cops shut us down. We played 'Cell' and 'Needles' to about 50 people
then bailed. It was a special one for me since this was
in Laguna Niguel, just a few streets away from where I grew up.

Unbroken and Retox were so cool to us and the show was fun.
We attempted to follow Retox back across the border into
California but some pedestrians cut us off and we lost them.
Our phones were dead so we just followed street signs, and ended
up in the "federales only" lane, entirely skipping the border
traffic. When we arrived at the border, we were unwelcome
at gunpoint. Border patrol had rifles pointed and made us
pull to the side in a garage to check the car since Cody didn't
have a passport. They finally released us at 3:40am after
going through the car and interviewing us all. We got back to
Orange County an hour or so later and saw a horrible accident
in the road on the 5 freeway. It must have just happened. I
drove around the accident and realized someone's decapitated
head was lying in the middle of the freeway. We were going to
go home and go straight to sleep but ended up going to Denny's.
While the show was worth it, it was all very strange.

Our friend Taylor Brinkerhoff did his best to throw
an awesome fest but there were problems with the PA.
BT fixed it and played to a full VFW hall.
The Wrath also played as well.

Derek from Bleeding Through wearing our new shirt
turned out to be the best pic of someone modeling it.

I'll try to post here more
